Christmas Mini Feature: Wings And Roots

This weeks Christmas mini feature is about a local small shop Wings and Roots run by a talented mother and daughter duo. They specialize in children’s clothing and accessories and I absolutely love how they chose the name for their business. It is based on a beautiful quote “As parents we gift our children two things: Wings and Roots.  Roots to grow and Wings to fly”. Melissa the Wings of the duo is a 37 year old mother of three, and her mother the roots of the business Lori, 57. They started their business when Melissa was on maternity leave and spent each weeks crocheting and sewing pieces with her mother, aunt, and cousin who was also on maternity.

After the duo received a lot of comments on their items they decided to give the small business a try. While mostly specializing in childrens accessories and clothing they also love getting custom orders as well, and see how their customers mix up the fabrics and designs in their own way. Since they are crafters at heart they can’t be tied down to one thing, this year they have been selling advent calendars which are a huge hit!

You can shop them online, or find them at a couple Christmas Fairs this years: Utopia Marketplace – Meet Me Under the Mistletoe on December 3rd and Krafted Christmas Market, you can also order online. When you shop small you aren’t just supporting a local business your supporting a local family! So give this local small shop some love, like them on Facebook, Follow them on Instagram and Check out their Etsy Store to Purchase. You may also find something from them in our Christmas Basket, come back December 3rd and Find out!
